Components
55 "acrobatic" cards numbered from 1 to 10: one card showing the number 1, two cards showing the number 2, three cards showing the number 3, and so on up to ten cards showing the number 10.
Some cards numbered 8, 9 or 10 carry a symbol giving them a bonus. There are two possible bonuses: the referee and the parachute.
Setup
Each player receives one "acrobatic" card showing the number of players ("2" for a 2-player game, "3" for a 3-player game, and so on). The rest of the cards are shuffled and placed face down in the center of the table as a single pile. This pile is the draw pile.
A first diver (player) is chosen at random. This player is the first active player.
Active Player's Turn: The Dive
The diver turns over the "acrobatic" cards from the draw pile one at a time and places them in the center of the table to form his dive.
Before turning over the next "acrobatic" card, or before using a card carrying the "referee" bonus, the diver must wait for each of the other players to raise a hand or to challenge him with a bet.
He keeps adding acrobatic cards until he decides to stop and make a perfect entry into the water, OR until he turns over a card identical to one of the cards he has already drawn, which makes him do a belly flop. In the first case, the diver gains all the cards of his dive. In the second case, he gains only the last card turned over. The cards gained this way are placed face up in front of the player.
The next player may attempt again the dive that was failed. He leaves the cards of the failed dive on the table and turns over a new "acrobatic" card, OR makes a new dive. He then puts all the cards of the previous dive under the draw pile.
Non-Active Players' Turn: The Dare
(Source title: "le même pas cap'", French slang for daring another player to do the same.)
Before the diver decides to turn over a new card or to stop, each of the other players may bet on a card previously acquired that the turn will stop:
a) Chicken (Peureux): the diver decides to stop and enter the water. The bet is won.
b) Daredevil (Casse cou): the diver decides to make a new acrobatic move, but he does a belly flop. The bet is won.
c) Bold (Audacieux): the active player decides to make a new acrobatic move and succeeds (the card is not a duplicate). The bet is lost.
If the bet is won, the player takes back the card he bet and places it face down in front of him. Otherwise, he gives it to the diver, who places it face up in front of him.
Each player may bet only once, and only one card, during another player's turn. If a player does not wish to bet, he raises his hand to indicate this to the diver.
At any time, a player may exchange one of his cards placed face down for 2 cards placed face up. In this case, the face-down card is turned face up, and a second card is drawn from the bottom of the draw pile.
Bonus Actions
-
Referee: Before drawing the next card, and if none of the opposing players has bet on the stopping of the dive, the diver permanently discards his "referee" card and looks at the top 3 cards of the draw pile. He may reorder them or place them under the draw pile.
-
Parachute (for players under 12 years old only): In the case of a belly flop, the player permanently discards his "parachute" card and returns the last card drawn (the one that makes a pair) under the draw pile. He takes all the other "acrobatic" cards of the dive. The judges did not see the belly flop. This ends his turn. If there were any bets, they are won.
End of the Game
The game ends when the last card is drawn from the draw pile.
Each player counts his points: each face-up card is worth one or two points depending on its stars, and each face-down card (won during a bet) is worth 3 points.
The player with the most points wins the game. He is named the greatest diver of Antarctica.
