Components
- 40 cards (1 spare card for each color). Carefully pull the card from the sheet, fold it back and forth at a right angle as shown in the figure, and stand it up. When putting them away in the package, stack them on top of each other.
- 1 board (both sides used). Use the alphabet side when playing in English.
- 5 whiteboard markers. If you are concerned about the eraser marks on the markers, wipe them with a cloth or wet wipes to clear them up. Please note that the mark will be difficult to erase over time.
- Instruction manual
Preparation
- Spread out the board and place it in the center of the players.
- Deal 7 cards of each color to each player. (1 spare card for each color.)
- Hand out one whiteboard marker to each player.
Battle
1. Decide on a topic and write down words.
Decide a topic of your choice. At first, it will be easier for everyone to use a topic that is easy to imagine, such as a "drink" or an "animal". If you can't think of a topic, please refer to the [List of topics]. Each player will then write a word containing 2-7 letters that is related to the topic and place it upright so that the other players cannot see it.
- Write down one letter per card.
- If the word has less than 6 letters, write an "×" on the card that does not have a letter.
- Once the card with the flag is placed on the far right as seen from you as the first letter, the cards are arranged so that they read to the left thereafter.
Example figure: the word "apple" is written with the cards "×", "×", "e", "l", "p", "p", "a" from left to right, with the flagged "a" card at the far right. Reading from the flagged card to the left gives a-p-p-l-e, followed by the two "×" cards.
2. Attack!
The attack begins with the starting player. Declare the letters by drawing a diagonal line on the letters on the board with the whiteboard marker.
- Once you gradually figure out the opponents' letters, you can attack them by guessing their words.
- Even if you figure out the opponents' words during the process, do not say them out loud.
3. Decide!
-
Successful attack: The player using the attacked letter turns the card around and reveals the letter to the other players so that they can see it. The attacking player can attack once more in succession (up to a maximum of two attacks). After each successive attack, the next player takes their turn to attack in a clockwise direction.
-
Failed attack: If the letter is not used, it is a failed attack. The next player in the clockwise direction takes their turn to attack.
-
If a player's word is "apple" and they are attacked with a "p", both cards must be disclosed.
-
If it is your turn and you attack with a letter that you are also using, it is a "self-destruct" and you must reveal that card. Continuous attacks are possible even when self-destructing.
4. The last one remaining is the winner.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all cards except for the "×" cards are revealed, at which point the player is eliminated and may not attack again. The player who remains until the end without being eliminated is the winner.
There are no draws! If the last two or more remaining players are eliminated at the same time, the winner is the one who successfully attacked (i.e., self-destructed).
