Table of Contents
Components
- 1 farm expansion
- 27 special buildings
- 1 "Stall" / "Stables" tile
- and these rules
Setup
Apply these rules changes:
- Use 5 farm expansions and 5 "Stall" / "Stables" tiles.
- Play with 4 random special buildings from this expansion and the 4 special buildings from the base game.
- If you are experienced enough with the special buildings from the first expansion, you may play with another 4 of them, for a total of 12 special buildings.
- Adjacent means horizontally or vertically adjacent.
- Some buildings can only keep a specific type of animal.
- You can tell the special buildings apart from each other by looking at their backsides: base game tiles have nothing, first expansion tiles have a bird and this expansion's tiles have a scarecrow.
Special Buildings
Assembly Hall
At any time during the game (even outside the Work Phase), you can give your opponent one of your unused fences. If you do so, you may immediately build one of your other unused fences for free.
Barn
You may immediately upgrade the next stall you build after this Barn into a stables for free. You can keep 1 animal in the Barn.
Building Firm
At any time during the game (even outside the Work Phase), you may pay 2 stone to replace a feeding trough with a stall. The stall needs to be placed onto the same farm space that the feeding trough was on, and this farm space may not contain a building. However, that farm space may be completely fenced in.
Byre-dwelling
The Byre-dwelling is built over your cottage. You must build it on top of it. You may not build it anywhere else on your farm board. You can keep up to 4 animals of the same type in the Byre-dwelling. (Note that there are currently three buildings that upgrade the cottage: the Half-Timbered House, the Log House, and now the Byre-dwelling. Each of these can only upgrade the cottage itself, but not one another.)
Carpenter's Workshop
Whenever you carry out the "Stalls" action, you may additionally build 2 of your unused fences for free. You can keep 1 animal in the Carpenter's Workshop.
Cattle Market
At any time during the game (even outside the Work Phase), you may trade 1 reed for 1 animal of your choice. You can keep up to 2 animals of the same type in the Cattle Market.
Conservatory
When building the Conservatory, you may immediately build another special building that must be placed adjacent to this Conservatory. You must pay the building costs of both buildings: the Conservatory and the additional special building. You can keep 1 sheep in the Conservatory, but no other animals.
Corner Houses
The Corner Houses need to be built in one of the four corners of your farm board. It is worth 4 points at the end of the game because after you have built the Corner Houses, you may no longer expand your farm. From now on, when you carry out the "Expand" action, you only get the borders, but no farm expansion. You can keep up to 3 animals of the same type in the Corner Houses.
Cottage Extension
The Cottage Extension can only be built in the first round of the game with your second action (since you need to obtain wood with your first one). It is worth 4 points at the end of the game because you must build all buildings horizontally or vertically adjacent to one another, including your cottage, stalls, stables and all special buildings. You can keep up to 3 animals of the same type in the Cottage Extension.
Dairy Farm
You can keep up to 2 cows on unused farm spaces that are horizontally or vertically adjacent to this Dairy Farm. You can keep up to 2 cows in the Dairy Farm itself, but no other animals.
Estate
Immediately take 1 horse when building the Estate. At the end of the game, the Estate is worth 3 points if you have built at least 3 more special buildings (not counting the Estate, the Cottage or its upgrades, which bring the total to 5 special buildings). Otherwise it is not worth any points. You can keep up to 2 horses in the Estate, but no other animals.
Feeding Station
From now on, each of your fully enclosed pastures can hold 1 more animal of the same type unless it contains a feeding trough; i.e. size 1 pastures hold 3 animals, size 2 pastures hold 5 animals and so on. You can keep 1 animal in the Feeding Station.
Hayrick
One special thing about the Hayrick is its lack of building costs. All Stables and all special buildings that have "Stables" in their name (like the Open Stables) and usually hold 5 animals of one type can now alternatively hold 3 animals of one type and 3 animals of another type (but not 6 animals of one type). A feeding trough doubles these values as usual, so you may either keep 10 animals of one type, or 6 animals of one type and 6 animals of another one in a single Stables.
Home Depot
Whenever you get 3 different building materials at the same time (e.g. on the "Building Materials" action space), also take 1 wood from the "3 wood" action space. If there is no wood on that action space, you do not get the additional wood. You can keep 1 horse in the Home Depot, but no other animals.
Inn
Immediately take 1 horse when building the Inn. You have to pay 1 pig and 1 cow to build the Inn. You can keep up to 2 pigs in the Inn, but no other animals.
Materials Outlet
The "Materials Outlet" replaces a regular Stables tile. Special buildings that have "Stables" in their name cannot be replaced by this building (e.g. you cannot replace the Open Stables with this). You may not build the Materials Outlet on any other farm space. When building the Materials Outlet, immediately take 4 wood and 3 stone. You can keep 1 horse in the Materials Outlet, but no other animals.
Office
The Office has no function during the game. At the end of the game, you lose 2 points for each of your buildings adjacent to the forest (i.e. in the top row of your farm board). You may thus lose more points than you get for the Office. You can keep up to 2 horses in the Office, but no other animals.
Manor
The Manor has no function during the game. At the end of the game, you lose 2 points for each of your buildings adjacent to the road (i.e. in the bottom row of your farm board, including your Cottage or its upgrade). You may thus lose more points than you get for the Manor. You can keep up to 2 animals of the same type in the Manor.
Organic Farm
When building the Organic Farm, put 1 more animal of the same type on each of your pastures that already contains exactly 1 animal. This does not apply to buildings that contain 1 animal.
Pen
The Pen has no function during the game. At the end of the game, any animals kept in the Pen do not count for scoring (nor do they provide bonus points). The Pen is not considered a pasture (see Organic Farm or Feeding Station). You can keep up to 4 animals of the same type in the Pen.
Reed Hut
You need to have 3 reed to build the Reed Hut, even though you receive 3 reed upon building it. It is not worth any points at the end of the game. You can keep up to 3 animals of the same type in the Reed Hut.
Servant's Cottage
When building the Servant's Cottage, you may immediately build 2 of your unused fences for free. Afterwards, you may pay 2 wood to build a feeding trough. You can keep 1 animal in the Servant's Cottage.
Steward's Office
At the end of each Work Phase, after all workers have been placed, you may use an available action space. (You may thus carry out four actions instead of three each round. This is why the Steward's Office is worth –3 points.) You can keep 1 animal in the Steward's Office.
Stone Carver's Workshop
At the end of each round, you may put exactly 1 of your stone on this building. At the end of the game, the Stone Carver's Workshop is worth 2 points per stone on it.
Trading Station
Once before each Breeding Phase, you may trade 2 different building materials for 1 animal of your choice. You can keep 1 cow in the Trading Station, but no other animals.
Timber Shop
Immediately take 3 wood as soon as all of the action spaces in the top row of the game board have been used. You get the wood as soon as the fourth of these action spaces has been used. (The top row action spaces are: "Start player and 1 wood", "3 wood", "1 stone" and "2 stone".)
Woodworking Shop
You may immediately build newly gained borders for free (e.g. borders gained via the "Expand" action). You can keep up to 2 animals of the same type in the Woodworking Shop.
