Players
2 to 5 players or teams.
Setup
Shuffle the squares and lay them face down forming a path that begins with the "Origin" square and ends with the "Destination" square. Each player or team chooses a character piece and places it on the "Origin" square. Everyone takes a notepad and a pencil. Choose one player to be the Judge and another to be responsible for the Bank. Players start with no points (coins).
How to Play
The game is played over several rounds. In each round, everyone solves challenges at the same time to earn points. Afterward, everyone spends as many points as they want and moves along the path. Then, the squares where players landed are uncovered and the surprises are carried out. The first to successfully uncover the Destination square wins. The full step-by-step process follows.
Prepare the 5 Envelopes
The Judge inserts one card into each of the envelopes.
Release the 5 Envelopes
The Judge releases the 5 envelopes face down on the table. At that moment every player (including the Judge) takes one envelope.
Solve the Challenge in the Envelope You Have
Each player solves the challenge number indicated by the envelope they are holding and secretly writes down whatever solution comes to mind. Each player's goal is to solve one challenge from each envelope (challenge 1 from envelope 1, challenge 2 from envelope 2, challenge 3 from envelope 3, challenge 4 from envelope 4, and challenge 5 from envelope 5).
Solve the Challenge in the Other Envelopes
Great, you solved the challenge in your envelope. You don't have to wait for everyone else to finish! If you see an envelope nobody is using, let go of the envelope you have and take that other one.
But... what do you do if you need the envelope another player is using? Take it from them, giving them at most the time of one hourglass to hand it over!
In short: there are two ways to get the other envelopes: take a free envelope, or take one from another player.
Whoever wants to take an envelope must first let go of their own envelope, then say "I challenge you!" to the other player, giving them at most the time of one hourglass to hand over the envelope. If someone else also wants to take it, they must let go of their own envelope and wait their turn to use the hourglass.
Free envelopes are placed face down within reach of all players.
Note: No player or team may hold more than one envelope at the same time.
Adigma!
The first player to finish writing their solutions to the 5 challenges (one challenge from each envelope) shouts "Adigma!", at which point everyone stops writing.
Note: it is possible to shout "Adigma!" without having all the solutions, as long as an attempt was made to solve all 5 challenges.
Now you're ready to start playing. Read the rest of these instructions once someone has shouted "Adigma!"
Grade
Each player passes their notepad to the player on their right.
The Judge reveals the solutions on the backs of the cards and reads them aloud along with their point value.
Each player grades the notepad that was passed to them.
Collect
Each player collects from the Bank the points they earned. The player who shouted "Adigma!" earns 1 extra point if they alone had the best result of the round. If they shouted "Adigma!" and they alone had the worst result, then everyone else earns 1 extra point.
Advance
Each player pays 1 point to the Bank for each square they want to advance. It is allowed for several players to land on the same square (they will share the same luck).
Uncover Squares
After everyone has advanced as much as they wanted, the squares where players are standing are uncovered, starting with the squares furthest behind.
When each square is uncovered, a surprise is revealed and must be carried out. For example: your money might be doubled, or you might move back, or something else might happen to you...
If the surprise causes a player to land on another covered square, that square is also uncovered, making sure the squares furthest behind are always uncovered first.
Uncovered squares are left uncovered. If a player lands on an uncovered square, the surprise is ignored.
How to Win
The first player to successfully uncover the Destination square wins the game. In case of a tie, the player with the most points wins.
If no one has reached the Destination, a new round begins with new cards.
