Components

  • 55 cards with 330 different terms
  • 1 hourglass
  • 1 special die
  • 1 rules sheet

Pen and paper are also needed.

Setup

Shuffle the cards and place them as a face-down pile in the middle of the playing circle. Decide which team or player begins. Each team chooses its first performer. In the following rounds, the players within each team take turns as performer in rotation.

Gameplay

The performer of the first team takes a card from the top of the pile, rolls the special die and turns the hourglass over. The die shows which term on the card must be performed:

  • Z = draw (zeichnen)
  • E = explain (erklären)
  • D = act out in pantomime (pantomimisch darstellen)

The performer's own team must guess the term being performed.

Tip: Before the game, decide how exact a term must be guessed, for example whether "animal friend" is enough for "animal lover".

If the correct term is named, the team has won the card. Otherwise, the card is placed at the bottom of the pile.

If a team has won no cards or an odd number of cards (0, 1, 3, 5 …), a term from the upper half of the card must be conveyed. If the team has won an even number of cards (2, 4, 6 …), the corresponding term from the lower half of the card must be conveyed.

Tip: Before the game, it can also be agreed that only the upper or only the lower 3 terms on the cards are used.

The time limit of the hourglass applies to every task. The hourglass is monitored by the opposing teams.

Open Round

If a term is printed in RED, everyone may guess. When playing as individual players, every round is played as an open round.

End of the Game

The team or player with the most cards won wins the game.

Tip: Before the game, you may also agree on a set number of cards that is enough to win.
