Objective

Score the highest total over 3 rounds.

Components

  • 50 Chapa cards
  • 18 Consigna cards

Setup

Agree on the language, dialect or idiom to be respected during the game.

Shuffle the Chapa deck and the Consigna deck separately. Place both on the table (the Consigna deck face down).

Round

Place one Chapa per player (minimum 4 cards) in the centre of the table, within everyone's reach.

Reveal a Consigna. The first player to say a statement for any of the Chapas in play obtains that Chapa (see "Creating a statement").

There is no limit to the number of cards that can be obtained in a round. When no Chapas remain on the table, the next round begins.

Creating a statement

A statement is a set of words that express an idea. It can be a sentence or a phrase, for example: "Carlos Está Preocupado" (Carlos Is Worried) or "¿Jugaste Algo Hoy?" (Did You Play Anything Today?).

Example card: the Chapa "AEC" with a value of 100 points (shown as "Puntaje", score).

  • "Arnaldo Encontró Catamarca" (Arnaldo Found Catamarca) — marked correct in the manual. The initials Arnaldo, Encontró, Catamarca spell A-E-C, matching the Chapa.
  • "Armenia Ecuador Cordillera" — marked incorrect in the manual.

A statement must:

  • Respect the language, dialect or idiom agreed at the start of the game.
  • Fulfil the Consigna of the round.
  • Consist of exactly 3 words, whose initials match the letters on the Chapa, in the order they appear on it.
  • Not be an enumeration (loose, unconnected words joined by punctuation marks).

Consignas

Consignas can be fulfilled in different ways. For example, for the Consigna "Cine y TV" (Film and TV) you could mention:

  • Titles: La Naranja Mecánica (A Clockwork Orange)
  • Objects: Silla de Director (Director's Chair)
  • People/characters: ¡Era Brad Pitt! (It Was Brad Pitt!)
  • Situations: Filmando en Bruselas (Filming in Brussels)

End of the game

The game ends when the third round is finished. Participants add up the points of the Chapas in their piles (pozos). The player with the highest total wins.

Variants

Tanque lleno (Full tank): At the end of each round, the points of the Chapas are added up; the player with the highest score keeps the Consigna. The first player to win 3 Consignas wins the game.

Acarreo (Hauling): When setting up, place 2 Chapas per player (maximum 8 cards). To score points, participants must create statements combining the letters of two Chapas, one after the other (i.e. statements of 6 words).

Picada (Race): Turn over a single Chapa; the first player to create a statement takes it. There is no Consigna. Before starting, participants must agree how many Chapas will be put into play in total.

Tour: Played like the Picada variant, but each time a plate (patente) is turned over, a Consigna is also turned over, and it must be respected. The game ends when the Consigna cards run out.

Translator's note: "patente" is the Argentine term for a vehicle licence plate, used here as the unit of each Chapa turned in this variant.

Sprint: Each round, place one fewer Chapa than the number of participants, along with one Consigna. Players who do not manage to pick up at least one Chapa during the round do not take part in the next one. The winner is the player who remains standing. A single participant could take all the Chapas and, in that case, would automatically eliminate all the others.
