Goal of the Game

The goal of the game changes radically. From now on it is to collect the largest number of cards and bullheads, counting one positive point for each bullhead. The player who accumulates the most points wins.

All rules of 6 nimmt! remain in force, except for the changes detailed below.

Preparation

Shuffle all the cards and place four of them in the center of the table, as usual, starting the four rows. One of the players takes paper and a pencil to record the points.

Shuffle the seven "0" cards in among the remaining cards and deal 15 cards to each player.

Playing the Game

As usual, cards are chosen, played and placed in one of the 4 rows in the center of the table. In this variant, however, each player chooses one or two cards from their hand and places them face down on the table. When everyone has chosen, the players reveal their cards at the same time.

The player who played the lowest-value card starts, placing that card in one of the four rows. Then the player with the second-lowest card places it, and so on. It can happen that a player places both of their chosen cards, one immediately after the other.

Because the goal is now to take the largest number of cards, players will often try to place the sixth card of a row. As in the original rules, in this case the player takes all five cards in the row, and their sixth card forms the start of a new row.

Change to Rule 4: Low Card

If the chosen card has a value too low to serve in any row, the player must place this card at the end of the row with the highest number. The player takes no cards, unless this card is the sixth card of that row (as in the original rules).

The Bullhead Pile (Positive Points)

Each time a player takes a row, they place those cards in front of them in a face-up bullhead pile. All other cards received in this way are added to this pile. As in the original rule, cards taken from the rows never return to the player's hand!

The "0" Cards

The "0" cards are special cards. When they are played together with another numbered card, the order in which that numbered card is placed is different. A numbered card played together with a "0" card is always placed in a row first, before any other card, regardless of its value.

The "0" card is not placed in a row; it is put directly on the player's scoring pile. If more than one player chooses "0" cards together with their numbered cards, the order of placement between those players follows the ascending order of the value of the numbered cards chosen. If a "0" card is the only card chosen by a player, it goes directly to that player's scoring pile, with no special function or scoring.

Example: The following cards were played: 5 + 6, 27, 49 + "0", 53 + "0".

First the card 49 will be placed, followed by 53, then 5, 6 and, last, 27.

End of the Game

When you no longer have any cards in your hand, you no longer take part in the rounds. However, the game only ends when all players have played all the cards from their hands. It can happen that only one player still has cards left; that player must continue playing until all of their cards are also used up.

After the game ends, each player takes their pile of cards and counts the number of bullheads. This number is recorded and a new game is started immediately. As many games are played as there are participating players. The player who has the most points after all the games is the winner.

Tips

You should play to collect the largest possible number of cards! For this you need a little luck, and some tactics.

Consecutive Numbers

If you hold a card whose value comes immediately after the fifth card of a row, you should play that card immediately.

Example: The card "65" is in the fifth position of a row. You hold and select the card "66" and can then take that row.

The "0" Card

A player can have a good chance of winning a row by using this card intelligently.

Example: The card "80" is in the fifth position of a row. You hold the card "82" and, by playing it together with a "0" card, you can place first, before the other players, and take the row for yourself.

With a "0" card you can also get ahead of a player who has selected a card with a number sequential to a card in the rows (since you will be the first to place).

Pairs

It is also advantageous to play two cards with sequential values. Two cards with sequential values are called pairs. Pairs should be kept in hand and played at opportune moments.

Example: The card "94" is in the fourth position of a row and is the highest card. You hold a 3 and a 4. If you play these two cards simultaneously, you may place both in this row, taking all the cards and leaving the "4" to form a new row.

Variant: 6 nimmt! Plus

The "0" cards are dealt out equally among the players at the start of the game. Each player receives 2 cards (with 2 or 3 players) or 1 card (with 4 to 7 players). Undealt cards are shuffled into the game deck after the first four rows have been created in the center of the table. Then the remaining cards are dealt to the players. Each player must have 15 cards in hand, including the "0" cards dealt at the start.

Variants: 6 nimmt! Original

In the two variants below, we no longer count positive points but negative points, as in the original game of 6 nimmt!. Both are completely new.

Variant: 6 nimmt! with "0" Cards

You must play with the rules of the Plus expansion, but you score negative points, as in the original game. The "0" cards are shuffled into the game deck and each player receives 15 cards.

Each player chooses one or two cards from their hand and places them face down on the table. When everyone has chosen, the players reveal their cards at the same time.

The goal of the game is not to take any cards. Players must therefore avoid choosing a card that would complete a row that already holds five cards. The special "0" card does not generate negative points.

A numbered card chosen together with a "0" card is always placed in a row first, before any other card, regardless of its value.

At the end of the game, the player with the fewest negative points wins.

Variant: 6 nimmt! Simplified

You must play with the rules of the Plus expansion, but you score negative points, as in the original game. The "0" cards are shuffled into the game deck and each player receives 12 cards.

The youngest player starts. They play one card, face up, and place it immediately, according to the rules, in one of the rows! Then it is the turn of their left-hand neighbour. They also choose a card and place it immediately. The players play in this way, clockwise.

A "0" card should be played by a player when they are at risk of taking a row. The special card played is set aside and is not placed in any row. In this way, they pass their turn and do not need to complete the row.

When all cards have been played, each player adds up their negative points. The player with the fewest negative points wins. A new game always starts with the player who has the most negative points.
