Components

  • 6 beavers
  • 6 dams
  • Game board
  • 52 cards
  • 5 wolf tokens
  • 8 fish tokens
  • Fishing line

Goal

Be the first to lead your beaver along the river to paradise. May the best gnawer win!

Setup

  1. Shuffle the cards and place them number side down next to the game board.
  2. Place the fish text side down in the fish pond on the board and mix them well. Place the fishing line next to the game board.
  3. Place the wolf tokens picture side down in the cave on the game board and mix them well.
  4. Each player chooses a beaver and puts it in a dam. This is your pawn. Place all pawns on the start space of the game board. Now you are ready!

How to Play

  1. Choose who will be the card master. This player turns over the cards and must reshuffle them when the pile is used up.
  2. All players cut the cards to decide who goes first. The highest number wins. Make one pile again, turn the top card over and place it next to the pile.
  3. Your turn is simple: guess whether the next card is higher or lower. The card master turns over the next card. Guessed right? Take your beaver out of the dam and move it one space forward (one wave further). Guess again to go another space forward... if you dare!
    • Guessed wrong? Go back to your dam; your turn is over!
    • If the number on the next card is equal to that of the first (previous) card, move your dam to your current position and end your turn.
  4. If you get a little scared and would rather not guess again, call "Dam!". Move your dam to your current location and secure your progress for your next turn. The game now continues clockwise with the next beaver.
  5. Keep playing like this until the pile of cards is used up. Then leave the last card lying and shuffle the rest of the cards to continue playing.

Special Spaces

Enticing Avenue

Choice stress! Do you go through the enticing avenue to get close to the gates of paradise? Guess the exact number of the next card to take this short route. But beware... if you get it wrong, your beaver and its dam go all the way back to Start.

Lava

A dam on lava... that simply doesn't work! If you land on lava, you must keep guessing until you are back in cool water... or reach paradise! Is the number of the next card equal to the card already lying there? Then go back to the nearest water and place your beaver and its dam there.

Fish Pond

Would you like a fish? Then put your dam on the fish space, take the fishing line and try to catch one!

  • Turbo: When you have caught a turbo fish, you may use it at the start of a following turn to move 2 spaces forward for every correct answer. It cannot be used to get past the wolf cave! Can only be used once.
  • Vision: Guessed wrong? Don't worry, it was only a dream! Wake up, put the last card back on the pile and try again... But this time you know the answer! Can only be used once.
  • Stinky Fish: Warning! There are also stinky fish in the water. With stomach cramps it becomes a difficult journey... Go back 2 spaces and end your turn! Can only be used once.

Rapids

Choose whether you want to go by the rapids. This way you go forward fast... or backward! You can also play it safe and stay in the river. Via the rapids you go 3 spaces forward - or backward - with your next answer!

Wolf Cave

When you end up at the entrance of the wolf cave, immediately place your dam and turn over a token. If the wolf is awake, remove the token and stay where you are. Your turn is over. If the wolf is asleep, remove all wolf tokens; all beavers can now safely pass through the cave. The player who found the sleeping wolf simply continues his or her turn.

End of the Game

The beaver that reaches paradise first wins! Want to play again? The role of Card Master passes on clockwise. Ready for a new wild Beaver race!
