Where and when does a destroyed NPC respawn, and does it come back with damage?
The designer reversed his own earlier view in 2017 and repeated the ruling in 2018 and 2025.

An NPC respawns at the start of its own turn, without losing a turn, at a random spawn point rolled like a player ship. It starts with damage equal to its tier: 1 for the Merchant and Scoundrel, 2 for the Enforcer. A spawn point is skipped if occupied. The designer's earlier view that NPCs came back undamaged was reversed in 2017, and an old claim that the player chooses the spawn point is superseded. Rolling a 20 on an NPC respawn gives no Fame Point.
