How do I count the shortest flyable distance for a Shuttle mission?
The designer endorsed this in 2023, though one detail differs from the printed rulebook.
Trace the route the way an NPC would fly it, avoiding debris, asteroids, ice asteroids, planetary shields and stars where possible, and count the sectors it enters. If no safe path exists, take the highest payout. The designer endorsed this method and added that NPCs use gates and wormholes. The printed rulebook says gate movement is never used for this count, so that detail is a later clarification and groups may prefer the printed text.
