As soon as you write consecutive numbers you must draw a string of lights connecting them, and you score the longest string on each street at the end. This replaces the original Blue Cocker wording; if the older text seems to make connecting optional, the designer corrected that in 2024: you must connect if you can. Fences do not break a string. A Bis counts as consecutive with its identical neighbour, so 6, 7, 8, 8bis, 9 is one string, but in 1, 2, 2bis, 4 the string stops at 2bis.
