When Death! Ride, Ride to Ruin! is played, how many Mordor cards are eliminated and who chooses?

The Rohan player eliminates any number of Rohan cards from reserve. Mordor then loses an equal number of its own cards, taken from active battlegrounds in whatever mix Mordor picks.
