Is moving corruption off a Genesis sector mandatory when I invade it?
The designer hedged ("fairly certain") on whether it is optional.

Probably optional: the designer is fairly (not fully) certain it is, and he confirmed you choose the order of that ability and the invasion's corruption removal.
