Does Idol of the Clenched Fist protect Blueprints or Showcase cards, and does it apply to cards you only draw?

No to both. Blueprints and Showcase cards are never part of your hand, and drawing a card from the deck does not put it into your hand. The Idol applies individually to each card an event would make you discard.
