Can you use an action card on the turn you claim it?

Yes, if you use an action slot or effect with the action-card symbol: play the matching card, claim it, and tap it with the A part of the slot. Merely placing a card in your tableau does not activate it, and a slot without the symbol will not let you use it until a later turn.
