How does the Heir convert coins and score at game end?

It converts coins to Fame at the end of the final turn, during Pay Wages, and leftover coins after that are worth nothing. With Dawn of Technology the Heir still scores 1 Fame per shard, while players score 2 Fame per 3 shards.
