Are components used up when you prepare a trick, and can one stock cover several tricks?
The rulebook says components are not spent, and the designer confirmed they are never lost.

No. Preparing a trick only checks that you hold its components; they stay on your board. One stock of three Wood can therefore cover every trick you prepare that needs Wood, and you never need more than three of one component. Components are also never lost unless a Dark Alley card says so.
