The designers intended cards for 2-player and dice for solo, as cards are easier to read; if you use dice, roll them a round ahead. Gifts' Duel of Magicians performance cards can be used in solo and mixed with the Heir's in 2-player, while Gifts' Turn Setup cards are replaced by the Academy dice. For the blocked Academy spots, see the white box on page 7 of the Academy rulebook.
