If I pass during the rescue or rare-finds phase, can I rejoin?
The designer ruled you cannot act after passing, and players agree on the rest.

No. Once you pass you are out of that phase, even if another player's card puts new cats in the fields. While others remain, you rescue one cat per turn; if everyone else has passed you may keep acting until you pass.
