Can a resource you pick up while drawing be spent on the same die, for example to enter a broken-sword space?
The rulebook says resources are gained immediately on entering a space.

Yes. You gain a resource the moment you first enter its space, so a sword collected mid-path can immediately pay for a later space on that same die. The die does not have to finish resolving first.
