What exactly completes a task card: do I need to play the card, or hold it?
The rulebook says a task is fulfilled when its holder wins a trick containing the matching card.

You complete a task by winning a trick that contains the exact card shown (same colour and number); you can win it with any card, and the card's owner, not you, may be the one who plays it. Holding the card yourself is not enough, because you must play it and win that trick. The small task card is only a reminder and is never played. Winning a trick with a different card of the same colour does not count.
