In a casual game, starting with the Imperial player, players alternate placing one obstacle each. Obstacles cannot be placed within Range 1-2 of any edge, and afterwards the Rebel player chooses his edge. Tournament rules, as quoted by players, differ: not within Range 2 of an edge or Range 1 of another obstacle, with the initiative player placing his own six asteroids.
