Can a barrel roll or boost end on or pass over an obstacle or another ship?

No for the final position: a barrel roll or boost cannot be performed if the ship's base would overlap another ship or an obstacle. Per the FAQ as quoted by players, it also cannot be done if the template overlaps an obstacle token, so you cannot pass over a rock. The original rulebook only restricted the final base for a barrel roll, so the FAQ overrides it. A roll or boost that stays clear costs nothing.
