Does a target lock stay in play between rounds, and what removes it?

Yes. A lock stays until the locking ship spends it (rerolling dice or paying a missile's cost), acquires a lock on another ship, or an effect removes it. It doesn't end when the locked ship leaves range 3, when the locker takes other actions, or when it attacks without spending it. A barrel roll cannot shake it, and Expert Handling only removes locks already in place.
