How does Marksmanship work — when is it chosen, can it be used more than once, and how do I mark it?

The rulebook says a card with an Action header uses the ship's one action; the rest comes from consistent forum replies.

Marksmanship is an action, chosen with your normal action during the Activation phase right after moving, so taking it uses your one action that round (you can't also take focus). Once chosen it modifies your attacks for the rest of the Combat phase, however many attacks you make, and it can be taken only once per round. Mark it with a token or turn the card sideways.
