Who wins the trick when both players play the same number?

That cannot happen in normal play: each suit has exactly one card of each number. The highest card of the led suit wins, and a card of another suit never wins, even with a higher number. So the leader wins when the follower plays off-suit, and a 1 of the led suit beats an off-suit 9.
