When hibernating onto the 4th space removes an artifact, can I first take the reward that grants an artifact?
The designer answered yes directly; other posters read it the other way.

Yes. You may gain the reward and claim the artifact before the penalty removes one. Some players read the rulebook's 'immediately' as meaning the removal comes first, but the designer ruled otherwise.
