When I play a Palette card and then discard, do I need to be winning after each one or only at the end?
The designer said you only need to be winning after using both cards.

Only at the end of the turn, after both cards. The Palette card does not have to help on its own, so you can play it purely to set up the Canvas change that makes you win.
