Is there a way to discard one of my own people from play?
Based on the rulebook; a couple of players confirmed it in a thread.

Not as a free action — a person normally leaves play only by being destroyed or returned to hand by an effect. The exception is the full-board rule, which lets you destroy one of your own people while playing another.
