If a card makes me discard, do I get its junk effect?
Junk Card is a separate action in the rulebook, and several players agree.

No — discarding just removes the card from your hand. Junk effects only happen when you take the Junk Card action, so cards like Supply Depot or Mercenary Camp that make you discard give no junk bonus.
