The rulebook gives each tile type an area on the board; other layout advice is community custom.

Place each type in its own area of your player board, as the icons show. Within an area, spreading or offsetting identical tiles so the count stays visible is good practice, and older printings instruct staggering them. There is no adjacency scoring, so exact placement does not matter.
