Do biomass patches count toward objectives about tiles or biomass icons?
The designer said 1x1 biomass counts for area and terrain rules only.

No for tile and icon counts: a patch is a square, not a tile, and has no biomass symbol. Yes for area and terrain objectives, where patches add terrain squares and can connect areas.
