Can I upgrade a building without a matching Blueprint?
No. Every upgrade needs a Blueprint of the matching type and costs one Mineral, even through the Construction Yard, which only lets you boost with Colonists. Some Advanced Buildings, such as the Builder Drone AI600, additionally ignore bot range. One Blueprint upgrades one building, once; extras come only from Upgrade tech or sending Colonists.
