Obsession
How many guests can a dismissal remove, and where do dismissed guests go?
The rulebook's Dismiss Guests entry covers these points and the designer confirmed that dismissal is the only optional favour.

Dismissal is optional, so you may dismiss fewer than the tile allows, even none; a tile saying 'any' has no limit. Dismissal favours are cumulative. Family cannot be dismissed; other guests can go from your hand, discard pile or current activity. Dismissed guests go to the bottom of the supply deck they came from.
