How does the Characters draft work, and does Howard get a Distinguished Family Member?
The expansion rulebook gives the Howard rule and the designer confirmed the draft details.
The draft is an open snake draft in which a player may take a family, a Distinguished Family Member or a servant first. Howard gets no Distinguished Family Member (DFM): that player drafts only the family, and all DFM stay in the centre, as a deliberate rebalance. If the first drafter takes the Chef and only Howard is left, the player exchanges the Howard cook for another servant. In a 2-player game, do not combine Howard with the draft-2 DFM variant unless handicapping a new player. In solo play you may choose 1 or 2 DFM.
