Can you move an Oathsworn's equipped items into the backpack before swapping that character out?
The publisher answered this directly on BGG (2022).

No. Swapping happens only at the start of a chapter before the story, so there is no point where equipped items can be moved to the backpack first. Gear the departing character used leaves with them.
