Can you join a card you take later to a run you already hold, even if it is lower or fills a gap?
Posts show this in play and it follows from the run rule, but the rulebook does not address order of acquisition.

Yes. Any cards in your collection with consecutive numbers form a run regardless of the order you took them, and the run scores only its lowest card.
