Do players start the game with servants?
The publisher confirmed this directly, correcting the older rulebook wording.

No. The publisher confirmed that players start with no servants (and no wood or stone); the only starting resources come from the auction or the turn-order coins. The Setup list in the rulebook text we hold still mentions 2 wood, 2 stone and 3 servants, but the publisher's answer and the current French and Italian rules say otherwise, so the older wording is out of date.
