Can I have more than one copy of a unique card, such as Gandalf, in play?

The rulebook's unique-card rule says this explicitly, and forum posters applied it to Gandalf, Steward of Gondor and The One Ring.

No. If any player has a unique card in play, nobody can play or put into play another card with that title. You may still put up to three copies in your deck, and a copy in the discard pile does not block the next one from entering play. The same limit applies to unique heroes, attachments such as Steward of Gondor, and The One Ring.
