Replacing a hero with a differently named hero costs +1 starting threat each time, even if you swap an earlier hero back in. A same-named hero from another sphere costs nothing, and neither does adding a hero who wasn't in the lineup. Heroes traded between players in a group are free; the earlier ruling charging +1 was reversed by the Road Darkens FAQ.
