No, they can't stay the same: each player's two starting Vikings must be different colors. Keep drawing until you get two different colors and return the duplicate to the deck before reshuffling. Which of two same-color cards to return is not settled by the rules, so drawing one at a time and redrawing on a match avoids the choice.
