Can Survivor be used to discard Vainglory's Symphony before Symphony's final progress lands, and can it stop the penalty?

Survivor cannot stop the penalty, since penalties are part of completing or failing the challenge. As for Symphony, the designer ruled that when two effects trigger at the same time you choose the order, so you may use Survivor first and discard it. One later forum reply read Symphony as resolving before Survivor; the designer's ruling is the better supported. A discard forced by a penalty does not trigger Survivor.
