Issuing a Kanban order in Logistics, upgrading a design where the car has a banked shift upgrade, taking a design from the rightmost display spaces in Design, and award tiles all give banked shifts. Certification track bonuses can also give one; if the holder moves up the track, the vacated spot opens for players who have not yet reached that level.
