Should I play with side A or side B of the Empire cards?
The designer explained the intent of both sides, and the rulebook recommends A for early games.

Use side A for your first few games, then switch to side B once you know the game. Side A gives each empire a different starting power and teaches the strategies; side B starts everyone with the same production, is more demanding, and is what the designer calls the normal and tournament way to play. All players must use the same side, and the designer adds that the best way is the way you like.
