Can I skip the teleport, teleport to the Catacombs itself, or put the Smuggler or a Family Member there?
Single replies in several threads agree and the expansion text is consistent with them, but no formal ruling.

The teleport is not optional if you take the good, and you may choose the Catacombs tile itself as destination, spending the Assistant. Neutral tokens are placed by two-dice rolls, so the Catacombs are never a target. The Catacombs are used only with both expansions in the Grand Bazaar. A Merchant stack that teleports away has no encounter at the Catacombs.
