What happens if I must sacrifice a die but have only three Section dice?
The rulebook's Exertion text and Sacrifice (die) glossary entry state this.

You don't sacrifice; you gain an Exhausted injury instead, so you never drop below three Section dice in play (available, spent and roll pool). If a cost makes you Spend a die and none are available, you Sacrifice one instead.
