In Gates of Tir na Nog, does 'loses a clan' count as removing a clan, and where is it lost from?

Both replies are from the designer, but the second is terse and the 'where' part rests on it alone.

Treat 'loses' as 'removed' for all effects, per the designer. The clan is lost from the Tir na Nog territory itself.
