A mailbox reaches every house it can trace to without crossing a road, anywhere in the block enclosed by roads and the board edge; it does not need a road to the house or the shortest path. Houses, restaurants and other tokens do not split a block, but bridges and overpasses cut it like an ordinary crossing, so a house across a street or a bridge is out of reach. Moves are orthogonal, not diagonal.
