When does an Evomorph Ambush card replace the normal Killer phase?

Each Killer phase uses either the Ambush card (when the Evomorph is off the board at the phase's start) or the Killer action plus a Terror card, never both. Vanishing mid-turn ends the phase and the Ambush card comes the next turn; once the adult reappears, you return to the Terror deck.
