Which cards count as active for challenge effects?
The designer clarified these points and the rulebook defines active cards.
Ready cards in the surroundings, along the way, within reach of the testing Ranger, and in that Ranger's player area. Exhausted cards are not active. Cards within another Ranger's reach are active only if you are interacting with a card in that Ranger's reach during the test, and that is fixed at the start of the test. 'You' in a challenge effect is the Ranger taking the test.
